But being in a relationship with a celebrity isn't all it's hyped up to be in the movies. "It's not the people in the relationship," Anderson said. AdvertisementThis persistent surveillance can be exhausting and strain a relationship, Anderson said. To work, these relationships need time out of the spotlightEven though the odds might seem stacked against a celebrity and civilian couple, these relationships aren't necessarily doomed. AdvertisementIn a public setting, Anderson said that the normal person has to accept that they'll be sidelined by their famous partner.

Films such as “What Price Hollywood” and “A Star is Born” first dabbled in the idea of famous and non-famous relations almost 100 years ago. Now, director Michael Showalter breathes new life into the trope with “The Idea of You,” out on Amazon Prime May 2. But more than just a piece of starry-eyed fan-fiction, “The Idea of You” is a Bildungsroman in disguise. It was the first look Hathaway tried on during fittings with Demetrio in New York. As for Hathaway, we find her in Chanel and leave her, happily ever after, in a rust-red Gabriela Hearst suit.

CNN —Paul McCartney’s legendary lost guitar will gently weep no more as it was reunited with its owner more than 50 years after it was stolen. He continued to play it once The Beatles had split up but it was stolen in 1972 from the back of a van in Notting Hill, London. “The search for the bass wasn’t just for Paul McCartney, it was for all the fans,” Wass told CNN on Friday. “The evidence along the way would suggest that the thief didn’t know what he was stealing that night,” Scott Jones said. “In a sense it has no value except to Paul McCartney and to every Beatles fan in the world … it’s priceless.”

LONDON (AP) — Paul McCartney no longer gently weeps for his original bass guitar. “Paul said to me, ‘Hey, because you’re from Höfner, couldn’t you help find my bass?’” Wass said. The thief didn't set out to steal McCartney's instrument and panicked when he realized what he had, Jones said. Its estimated value is based on the fact that a Gibson acoustic guitar Kurt Cobain played on MTV Unplugged sold for $6 million (4.7 million pounds), Jones said. It’s a red alert because the minute you come forward someone’s going to go, 'That’s Paul McCartney's guitar.

CNN —With her signature megawatt smile and timeless style, Julia Roberts might be a beauty icon, but she doesn’t take herself too seriously. When asked in a new interview with British Vogue what keeps her looking youthful at 56, the actor responded with a wry wit. Lachlan Bailey/Vogue‘Leading a life that is fulfilling’Jokes aside, Roberts says the key to youthfulness is in the people and experiences that make up her life. Lachlan Bailey/Vogue‘They see something familiar’That audiences find her relatable is something Roberts is acutely aware of, for better or worse. Roberts also discussed how feminism shows up in her work, nodding to her decision not to do nude scenes in films.

And, according to an increasing number of holiday movies, it’s in Europe. In Notting Hill. A jolly good Christmas. A merry Scottish Christmas and even a merry Swissmas. Europe, with its cobblestoned streets (a nightmare in heels), old buildings (no central heating) and Christmas markets (those can be as good as they look onscreen), provides the perfect setting for a magical holiday adventure.

Photo: GRANGERIn the annals of irresponsible utopianism, few names stand out like that of Bronson Alcott. Bronson’s propensity to run up debts and alienate supporters sank his young family into poverty. Had it not been for the busy and lucrative pen of their second daughter, Louisa May, the Alcott family might have disappeared into the footnotes of history. As it is, they remain a subject of fascination, for Louisa (1832-88) would produce not only the novels “Little Women” (1868) and “Little Men” (1871) but also short stories and brilliant nonfiction sketches. But Anna wants more and secretly takes a job at a love institute, where she meets star instructor Amir (Riz Ahmed) and begins to have her doubts about the whole process. "Fingernails" is set in an unspecified period to reflect the timelessness of love, said Nikou, a former assistant director to Greece's Yorgos Lanthimos, whose film "The Lobster" also anatomises relationships. Grant turned down an offer to play the owner of the love institute in "Fingernails" said Nikou, but the film still includes a tribute to the British actor. "We wanted to create an inside joke that the owner of the love Institute is Hugh Grant, because he's always the guy who gets the girl at the end. "And then he said 'no' and now he's on the marquee of a cinema (in the film) and I love that."

That's why I came to London," he told the audience at the Royal Albert Hall. He introduced "Ladeira da Preguica" saying: "This a a song I wrote in London while I was missing my homeland." The military junta deemed them subversive and arrested them, detaining them for nine months before forcing them to choose exile or jail. Seventy years on he runs London's 'Museum of Brands', with some 12,000 objects, many of them devoted to Britain's royals. Opie's museum in Notting Hill charts consumer culture and houses objects from past coronations, including a commemorative can of beer from the 1937 crowning of King George VI - with the beer still inside. And yet, without it, you don't understand when things happened," Opie said, adding that royal events formed the "skeleton of history." The oldest object in his collection is a Delftware plate from the reign of King William III who was on the throne from 1689 to 1702. Reece will be an American that is new to the area and “not quite who she appears to be,” according to the show’s producers. The long-running drama series began almost four decades ago in 1985 and ended in July. The new season, which began production in Melbourne on Monday and is set to premiere in the autumn, will inaugurate the revitalized series’ new phase. “I’m excited to be part of this iconic show’s next chapter, and I am really looking forward to being back in Australia – a place I know and love,” said Barton in the release. Guests Ian Smith (as Harold Bishop), April Rose Pengilly (as Chloe Brennan) and Melissa Bell (as Lucy Robinson), will also reprise their roles.
A police raid on a bar just outside of London renewed a debate over racist dolls. But despite the long history of the racist trope, the debate over the doll's place in British culture continues. Revellers take part in the Children's Parade at Notting Hill Carnival in London, Britain, August 28, 2022. But it does appear that there is some gradual shift in public opinion happening with the dolls. Nevertheless, the enduring popularity of the blackface doll creates the impression "that we live in a post-racial society," Scott said.
Central London's City of Westminster is its political heart, while the City of London is where the capital's financial decisions happen. But be warned: Several paths across Hyde Park are pedestrian-only, and police often fine people who cycle on them. The City of London is a blend of old and new, with St Paul's Cathedral close to skyscrapers as well as Roman ruins. While north London has Hampstead Heath, south of the river is Richmond Park, which dwarfs its northern counterpart in size. There's also a branch in central London's Covent Garden — the flower-filled restaurant The Petersham — that has an sit-down deli and bar.

CNN —Every year, as the days grow colder and Christmas draws nearer, “Love Actually” quickly becomes a festive favorite on people’s television screens. American homebuyers are searching for bargains in the U.K., as a weaker pound contributes to double-digit price cuts. The fall in the British currency, which is off 17.5% against the U.S. dollar year to date, has made U.K. real estate cheaper for buyers paying in U.S. dollars. A property listed at 5 million pounds in Knightsbridge, for instance, would have cost $8.6 million eight years ago but $4 million today. The asking price: 30 million pounds, or about $33 million with today's currency exchange rates. That marks a savings of more than $6 million for U.S. buyers, paying in dollars, compared with a year ago.

The trials and tribulations of Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle brand, Goop, have been well-documented. Just this month, Paltrow's company made headlines for settling a $145,000 lawsuit over claims that its vaginal eggs could balance hormones, admitting that some of its magazine's outlandish health advice may not work, and for selling $30 repellent for "psychic vampires." Despite the controversies, Goop seems to be going from strength to strength. A source recently told The New York Times that the company was worth $250 million and they just opened a pop-up in London's affluent Notting Hill. With the lure of vaginal eggs and vampire repellent impossible to resist, Business Insider's London bureau decided to drop in on Goop's new outpost to check out its most outrageous wares.
